About Bahia Yoga
We’ve been teaching for 18 years!
Bahia Yoga is dedicated to guiding students in the practice and understanding of Yoga, Meditation, Pranayama, and Mantra.
Bahia Yoga is a community-focused yoga school offering practices in Yoga, Meditation, Pranayama, and Mantra. Our approach respects the traditional roots of yoga while adopting a decolonised perspective, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all.
We are an educational school offering a Yoga Nidra TrainCourse and a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Programme, both accredited with Yoga Alliance International. These programmes focus on a balance of traditional teachings, practical application, and philosophical understanding, supporting students to engage with yoga authentically.
Yoga for Everyone
We believe yoga is for everyone, regardless of ability, background, or stage in life. Our classes are affordable and adaptable, offering guidance to modify postures based on individual needs. Each year, we partner with Nottingham Refugee Week to share yoga as a tool for connection and support.
Our Inclusive Ethos
In 2024, Bahia Yoga’s Director, Jasminder Bahia, was honoured to speak on the main stage at Notts Pride, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity and representation in yoga.
Our Teaching Approach
Yoga at Bahia Yoga is influenced by a variety of styles, including Hatha Yoga, Sivananda, Iyengar, Restorative, Yin, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa Flow. While these practices have many names, at our core is a dedication to the traditions, philosophy, and holistic approach of yoga.
Our founders
Our tutors and teachers are dedicated to sharing yoga in a way that respects its roots while making it relevant to modern life. Led by Jasminder Bahia, founder of Bahia Yoga (est. 2006), and Jake Dartington, a respected Mindfulness and Meditation teacher, our team supports students in exploring yoga in depth.
We believe Yoga really works!

Restoring Energy
Yoga boosts energy by improving circulation, stimulating healing, and balancing the nervous system, leaving you feeling revitalised and less fatigued.
Alleviating Physical Symptoms
Regular practice helps relieve muscle tension, chronic pain, and poor posture by improving flexibility, strength, and alignment.
