Once you have successfully completed the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, you will have the knowledge, practical experience, and confidence to begin sharing yoga with others.
Many graduates begin by teaching small community classes, offering sessions within workplaces or wellbeing settings, or gradually building their own classes and workshops.
If you plan to teach professionally, you will also need to obtain appropriate teaching insurance before offering public classes.
For many students, completing the training is also the beginning of a longer journey of practice, reflection, and continued study within yoga.
Prerequisites for the 200-Hour Teacher Training Course
To support a meaningful learning experience for everyone involved, we recommend the following prerequisites before joining the training:
• A minimum of two years of regular yoga practice and experience attending classes with a teacher
• Availability to attend all training modules and course dates
• A genuine interest in deepening your understanding of Hatha Yoga and developing the skills to teach
• The ability to participate respectfully and collaboratively within a group learning environment
• Self-motivation and a willingness to engage with home practice, study, and reflective learning throughout the course
Teacher training also requires a degree of personal responsibility and self-awareness. Students are encouraged to approach the programme with curiosity, openness, and respect for the shared learning environment.
The training invites participants to reflect critically on their own assumptions about yoga and to engage thoughtfully with new perspectives. This may involve being gently challenged in ways that support learning and personal growth.
As the programme runs alongside work and other commitments, students are encouraged to consider their capacity for self-care, time management, and maintaining balance throughout the duration of the training.
Places on the training are limited in order to maintain a supportive learning environment.
Students from outside the East Midlands are very welcome to apply. However, all participants are expected to attend the full duration of the programme, including training modules, mentoring sessions, and teaching practice.

Once you have successfully passed the interim assessment (usually around two thirds of the way through the programme), you may choose to start offering a small number of classes while continuing your training.
In order to do this, you will need to obtain appropriate trainee teacher insurance and hold a valid first aid certificate. Insurance providers generally require you to declare that you are currently a teacher trainee and to limit the number of classes you teach during the training period.
This stage of the training allows students to begin developing real teaching experience while continuing to receive guidance and feedback from the teaching team.

Is there an ideal age to begin yoga teacher training?
There is no specific age requirement for joining the training. What matters most is having an established personal yoga practice and the readiness to engage with the physical, reflective, and academic aspects of the programme.
Our trainees have ranged from their early 20s through to their 50s and 70s. Yoga can be practised and taught at many stages of life.
Applicants should ideally have a minimum of two years of regular yoga practice before beginning the training.
Will I still be able to apply if I have had a break in my yoga practice?
Yes. If you have previously maintained a regular practice but have had a break due to life circumstances such as relocation, injury, pregnancy, or other commitments, you are still welcome to apply.
We simply ask that applicants feel ready to re-engage with a consistent practice before beginning the training.
Can I join the training if I am pregnant or recently postpartum?
Teacher training requires regular attendance, sustained study, and participation in physical practice across the duration of the programme.
For this reason, many students find it more supportive to undertake the training once they have had time to settle into life after pregnancy and early parenthood. If you are currently pregnant or recently postpartum, we would be happy to stay in touch and share information about future training dates.
Can I teach in gyms or run my own classes after completing the training?
Yes. After completing the course and obtaining appropriate insurance, graduates may teach in a variety of settings including studios, gyms, community spaces, workplaces, or through private classes and workshops.
Many teachers begin by offering small community classes while gradually developing their teaching experience.
