Refugee Week 2025 began with a powerful gathering at Nottingham Refugee Forum on Friday 13 June. Bahia Yoga was honoured to be part of the launch event, sharing space with musicians, local organisations, and community members from all walks of life.
Our director, Jasminder Bahia, offered gentle, grounding yoga session, supporting participants with breathwork (pranayama), mantra, and deep rest. These practices are a quiet act of care, especially in times that feel overwhelming or unjust.
At Bahia Yoga, Jasminder has made a clear decision (for herself):
To only teach yoga in spaces that are grassroots-led, community-based, and aligned with social justice.
This commitment shapes how she wishes to show up, whether that’s in a garden space in Nottingham, or online with those across the UK and beyond.
We’re grateful to everyone who attended, participated, and donated. Events like this remind us that yoga is more than physical postures, it's about connection, dignity, and showing up in meaningful ways.
