Yoga Nidra Teacher Training Course

The Yoga Nidra teacher training runs twice a year. This course runs online from May to September, and October to March in person at our Nottingham studio. To be considered for the course please complete the register my interest form.

This Yoga Nidra Training will not only qualify you with all the skills and tools you need to become a Yoga Nidra teacher. It will also build your personal practice, connection, and understanding of Yoga Nidra. This 60 hours course focuses on three key areas – Sleep Rest and Restore. Led by Psychologist Jasminder Bahia, Psychologist, EMDR (Trauma) Therapist, Yoga Teacher Trainer, and Zen practitioner with over 20 years of experience in mind-body practices. The course combines ancient Yoga techniques within a Psychological framework, and how to undertake a trauma-informed approach to the practice.

In-person 6 months course runs October 2024 to March 2025

 

Dates for the in-person sessions:

Course Details. The course is a hybrid format, consisting of six in-person sessions with additional online training content.

The in-person sessions will run on Saturdays from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm on the following dates:

  • October 5 (2024)
  • November 9
  • December 7
  • January 11 (2025)
  • February 8
  •  March 8

Course fees and payment plan options:

  • Full fee: £900
  • Early bird offer: £750 (payment in full)
  • Payment plan for early bird offer: Two-part installments of £400 (£800 total payable)
  • Early bird offer deadline: Two months before course start date

Please note that the full fee of £900 is for individuals past the early bird offer, and applicable to organisations. For individuals who wish to take advantage of the early bird offer, the fee is reduced to £750 (payment in full). If you prefer to pay in instalments, you can choose the payment plan for the early bird offer, which consists of two instalments totalling £800.

As part of our commitment to creating an inclusive community, we offer three scholarship places that provide a 30% discount.  If you identify as part of the global majority as a person of colour, or part of the LGBTQ+ community, you may be eligible to apply for the scholarship. The scholarship application deadline is two months prior to the course start date.

Please ensure that you complete each module within the given month. It’s important to note that completing each module is necessary to progress through the course and receive certification. If you are unable to complete a module you cannot progress onto the next module.

The course content consists of carefully prepared prerecorded videos, providing you with the flexibility to access and review them for 12 months from the start date. Additionally, you’ll participate in monthly group practices, discussions, and receive continuous support and contact with our course mentors and course tutor.

Here’s what you can expect from the course:

  • Around 3 to 4 hours of training per month through recorded videos.
  • A balanced combination of theory and practical sessions.
  • Access to 6 pre-recorded Yoga Nidra practices for a deeper understanding and experience.
  • Engage in real-time monthly live Yoga Nidra practices led by Jasminder.
  • Join live discussions, with opportunities for Q&A.
  • Monthly homework and practice assignments, requiring about 10 to 15 hours of commitment per month.
  • An online training manual to support your learning.

 

 

Course content

This training offers a balanced blend of practical and theoretical skills. It consists of monthly modules, group discussions, self-study, and guided practice. Throughout the course, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Yoga Nidra in the wider context of Yoga, from Raja Yoga to the Koshas. We’ll explore the ethics of the practice and teachings for teachers and therapists. As part of the course, you’ll also receive an exclusive online manual.

Here’s an overview of what the course covers:

The Eight Stages of Yoga Nidra:

  1. Practices for resetting and restoring the body.
  2. Explanation of setting a grounded and safe space (Sankalpa).
  3. Understanding the energetic layers (Pancha Kosha model).
  4. Learning the history and philosophy of Yoga Nidra.
  5. Exploring the connection between Yoga Nidra and the psychological framework.
  6. Studying PTSD and trauma-informed practices.
  7. Discovering the relationship between Raja Yoga and Yoga Nidra.
  8. Understanding the stages of sleep and brain wave patterns.

  • Understand the theory and science behind Yoga Nidra’s eight stages.
  • Explore how to apply Yoga Nidra to different student groups.
  • Understand Yoga Nidra within the wider context of Yoga, trauma impact, and accessibility.

Assessment for the Yoga Nidra Training:

  1. Monthly journal: Practice a new recording daily and write reflections. Guidance for completing and submitting the journal will be provided. Completion of each module is required before moving on to the next.
  2. Yoga Nidra recordings: Create your own recordings for each module and submit them for review. Completion of all recordings is necessary for course completion.
  3. Scripts: Learn to create scripts to accompany your recordings and reinforce your understanding of the practice’s key aspects.

Ongoing feedback and mentoring support: You will receive continuous feedback and mentoring to enhance your progress. Attendance on all dates is required to pass the course successfully.

Please note that this course follows a sequential structure based on the eight stages of Yoga Nidra. Completion of each module and regular participation are key to maintaining a successful practice.

Who is the Yoga Nidra Training for?

The Yoga Nidra training is suitable for Yoga teachers, trainees, and professionals in the well-being, health, and psychology fields. If you want to learn how to use this practice with your clients or patients, or if you want to deepen your own (established) personal practice, this course is a great fit for you. Priority will be given to Yoga teachers, and those with in-depth experience in Yoga, Meditation and Yoga Nidra.

Important Information for the Yoga Nidra Training Course:

  • Please note that for the online course, sessions are pre-recorded. Every month, a new video will be uploaded to the online portal, providing you with a structured learning experience.
  • Prior experience in meditation or Yoga Nidra is required to enroll in the course, whether you choose the online or in-person option. This ensures that you have foundational knowledge and can fully benefit from the course.
  • Our sessions are open to yoga teachers, trainees, psychologists and psychotherapists with prior experience in yoga and meditation.
  • Upon successful completion of all modules/sessions and passing assessments, you will receive a certificate as a recognition of your commitment and accomplishments.
  • Once you have been offered a place in the course, and your payment has been received, please note that refunds are not possible.
