Yoga for Alzheimer’s Nottingham

Bahia Yoga is proud to be part of a national chain of events running throughout the UK, coinciding with World Yoga Day in June, raising awareness and support for Alzheimer’s UK.

Yoga for Alzheimer’s Nottingham 

This session is suitable for all levels from beginners, seasoned practitioners, to complete novices and also open to people living with dementia. We aim to raise awareness and donations towards Alzheimer’s research. To register and book your place please click here.

Entry is £15 per person and advance online booking is essential. You can register as a group, or as an individual. Groups can include your work colleagues, or your friends or family members. We encourage everyone to take part, and enjoy Yoga to raise awareness for a great cause in this beautiful building.

What to bring: Please bring along a bottle of water, and a Yoga mat, wear loose comfortable clothing with layers for warming the body and keeping the body cool. Please note we encourage all participants to bring along a Yoga mat (mats will not be available on the day, so do come with your own mat).

Timings: An approximate outline is as follows and includes Bahia Yoga tutors and graduate teachers from the Bahia Yoga teacher training programme.

  1. Welcome / Background – Alzheimer’s Research UK
  2. Opening – Meditation and Mindfulness – Jasmin (15 minutes)
  3. Warm-Up Yoga, Breath and Alignment – Lee-ann (35 minutes)
  4. Hatha Yoga – Sheryl (50 minutes)
  5. Dynamic Flow – Jatta (45 minutes)
  6. Restorative Yoga into Savasana- Jasmin (35 minutes)

All proceeds go to the dementia research experts Alzheimer’s Research UK. You can find out more about them here. 

Every £20 raised is one hour’s worth of research, and all funds raised from Yoga for Alzheimer’s events will be used to fund a non-animal-testing project looking into the link between stress and Alzheimer’s.
