Sivananda Yoga Workshop will focus on the 12 classical postures. The sessions are led by Jasminder Bahia Director of Bahia Yoga.

What are the 12 classical postures of Sivananda Yoga?

  1. Śīrṣāsana ◦ Headstand

  4. Matsyāsana ◦ Fish

  5. Pascimothanāsana ◦ Sitting Forward Bend

  6. Bhujaṅgāsana ◦ Cobra

  7. Śalabhāsana ◦ Locust

  8. Dhanurāsana ◦ Bow

  9. Ardha Matsyendrāsana ◦ Half Spinal Twist

  10. Kakāsana ◦ Crow

  11. Pada Hastāsana ◦ Standing Forward Bend

  12. Trikoṇāsana ◦ Triangle

The workshop offers variations and modifications to the traditional sequence of the asanas above. Helping students explore their range of motion safely. Focussing on the spiritual aspect of Yoga, including breathing, mantra, and mindfulness. As well as mental focus, and how to be steady in Yoga postures. The workshop is not limited to physical movement and brings in deeper practices. Such as Prāṇāyāma, the art of breathing. Śavāsana, how to find deep ease and mental relaxation for the mind and body. With a keen emphasis on meditation, Dhyāna.

Who can attend this workshop? Can a beginner join the Sivananda Workshops?

The workshop is open to mixed levels and open to people who have some prior experience with Yoga,  but it is not suitable for beginners.  Yoga students can work at a pace that is steady mindful and brings ease. No rushing or trying to get yourself into contortionist shapes.

About the teacher and how to book

Jasminder Bahia has been teaching Yoga since 2003 and is a student of Zen and a Psychologist. She is keen to share the spiritual aspects of Yoga and has a knack for making practices accessible for different body types and abilities. Jasminder is a Bhakti practitioner at heart, brings in the philosophical links to Yoga, and helps students connect with Yoga beyond the physical meaning.

Cancellation policy for workshops:
A refund (minus a 20% admin fee) will be made for cancellations made more than 8 weeks before the start date. For cancellations, less than 8 weeks before the workshop there will be no refunds or transfers. Please contact us if you have any queries.
